Most crypto debit cards sit on the Visa or Mastercard networks, so they are accepted anywhere those cards are. When you tap, the card either converts your crypto to local currency instantly, or — increasingly — spends a stablecoin balance directly. Either way, there is no credit line and no borrowing.
This is the biggest split in the market. A custodial debit card spends from a balance the provider holds for you (like an exchange card). A self-custodial one spends from a wallet you control, so you keep the keys. Self-custody removes counterparty risk but usually means a bit more setup.
